The problem with steampunk....

In one of my last post I talked about how I like steampunk and all that jazz. But I do I have one problem with it, it's not colorful enough. Most of the time, we tend to stick with blacks, browns and maybe a dark blue or purple, I have seen red a few times but still...So I came up with this necklace, a mix of gears, bows and bright shell beads as accents.
I think it has a gypsy feel to it, sort of.

Good old, Sepia tone for steampunk...more brown

Cold, Wet and Rainy

On days like this I just want to stay in my dorm with tea and a book(or beads). But I have to drag my butt to class. Thank god for travel mugs. Once again I must apologize for lack of beads, it's been a busy and hectic week. Now, normally I would work on pieces during the weekend but it's parents and famlies weekend here at Penn State. Which means I will showing my parents around, but good news is that I will not be paying for my own dinners. (I love my parents, trust me)

In other news, anyone watch Elementary on CBS last night? A bunch of us got together for tea and cookies and watched it. Personally, I thought that it wasn't bad, it just not Sherlock Holmes. I still prefer BBC's Sherlock. *mind wanders*

P.S
I would love to own a shirt with the picture above on it.

UFO Invasion

Run for the hills! They have landed! Now one is safe and...ok, I got carried away with the army guys and picmonkey.(google it)  Anyway's we all know that if aliens landed in these spaceships, they would be as cute as them and peaceful. I personally, am looking for a blue box....*cough*moving on!

So I did end up making necklaces with the lampwork spaceships, as you can see. I wanted them to be the focal of the piece, so I stuck with copper chain and placed a few "moon rocks" (Pyrite) up one side of the necklace. The head pins that I ended up using, cause the ships to look like they are blasting off when you wear them. Heading unknown parts of the universe.
All the necklaces length's are between 11-12 inches.

I took lots of pictures this time.... is it too much?

Cookie Monster!

Kiwi Yogurt today is having a PSU blue out in State College. They're donating $1 for every cup of blue yogurt sold, which is their pure vanilla dyed blue for the day, to the Blue Ribbon Campaign Against Child Abuse. I decide to go down town for lunch and then stopped in afterward. I was trying to be good, still no freshman 15 for me, but the blue was just the right shade that I couldn't help add chocolate chip cookie dough to it and call it cookie monster. Now, back to jewelry making...I mean studying.

Shhhhhh......It's a secret.

I have been working on stuff for the past couple of days(In between studying, homework and other things.) but unfortunately it has all been for either pay it forward-handmade or blog hops, which I can't show you yet. So maybe next time I'll have some pretty pictures to show all you. But for now please enjoy this picture.
So true...

Pantone Bead Swap

I recived my pantone bead swap today from Sandi Lee James. Her blog is dobedobeaddo.blogspot.com. I really like the big chunky beads. Now I'm nervous, I hope she likes the beads that I sent her.

A Good Day, sort of.

Why is it a good day? Because the cafe in the library had nutella croissants and it's very easy to make me happy. Small pleasures. Also I get my very first college exam out of the way today. Yay! Thank god it's biology and I actually know what I'm doing. For once.

While I was studying last night and came up with these mix-matched butterfly earrings. Look there is some sense to my maddness. When I get nervous, I do something with my hands to calm myself down. Let's my brain focus and think. Of couse, I do this I after I know the material well enough, or at least I think I do.
A pair of butterfly earrings seemed to make the most sense to me since I was studying biology.

20 Year Celebration Tea Party

This weekend I headed home, it's such a pain driving the three hours back and forth. But my my mom had promised me tea. So have tea will travel. Down in Volant, Pa there is a shop called The Kitchen Shoppe that normally does a traveling tea party, that I couldn't go to this year because of school. But last Saturday they are holding a 20 year celebration tea party. There is also a bead store down there called Beyond Beads, which when I'm home I try to make a stop to see what new things that she got in.

Anyways I'm rambling, tea started off with baked grapefruit toped with cinnamon. Also we were served mimosas. For legal reasons, I didn't drink any at all, nope not even a drop. ;)
Followed by the tea, it's made by The Republic of Tea, celebrating their 20 year anniversary. It's a blend of Ceylon black tea leaves and white wine grapes for a touch of sweetness. Also the tea is infused with the essence of champagne. It was very good, I got the last can of it. :)

It was served with homemade, cheesy herb baked eggs and old-fashioned coffee cake. It was a nice break from studying and catching up with my mom. Even it has only been 3 weeks since we last saw each other.
Beads tomorrow hopefully, I have 2 exams to study for.  Both Bio and Chem, no surpise there.

sleep....

Sleep is a good thing. Sleep is something that I took for granted. So remember kids, try to get at least 8 hours of it. God, I'm tired.
Also I'm heading home this weekend. Meaning I have access to the tools that I didn't bring with me, like my hammers. *evil smile*

Just a quick break.

I have been so busy for the past couple of days, I think time to come up for air and tea. Earl Grey and something called "true lemon". Though I always thought that a "true lemon" was round and I don't know the actual fruit?! (I still tried it anyways.)

In more important news I finished up my cousin's bracelet two nights ago(I think, I'm starting to get my days all mixed up). I like how it came out and I hope she does too. She said that she didn't want it to be too chunky, so I stuck with smaller beads and pearls. Oh! and I was wrong, this is the last color changing bead. I found it mixed in with a bunch of random charms. Now I'm going to sit back and enjoy my tea before my next class. bye!

Happy Snail Mail

Look what came in the mail for me today! I'm such a geek, but they're so cute. Tiny, colorful spaceships. I was going to use them in necklaces, but now I just them to sit on my shelves, so I can stare at them. Hmmmm...what to do, what to do.

Black Hole Earrings

Two miniature black holes encased in brass and a force field to protect the wearer. Only for the most bravest of fashionistas.
A pair of earrings that I created last night. Even though I call them black holes the beads are actually a dark purple.

On a side note, I'm now working on a commission piece for my cousin. So yay! more money for the poor college student.

Something simple, sort of.

I finished the necklace that I have been working on this week. I call it "plastic tears"... for now, I might change that. It sounded better in my head. Anyways, in the end I went with something simple, since the the teardrops standout on their own. I still have a ton of these left over though. I could make maybe two more depending on the length, if anyone is interested. Now I'm working on a pair of earings inbetween school and other social activies. I'm trying out of a musical tonight, The Producers. I just want a small part, nothing too big. In other news, I sold that bracelet I posted a few days ago. True it was to my aunt, but still I made around $20, that will most likely go back into beads or books which ever comes first.
